In a distressing video that has been viral on social media, a woman animal activist based in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore alleged that some locals, who are running slaughterhouses in the area, have been harassing her for the past several months and the local police aren’t taking any action.
Sakshi Sharma, reportedly an animal activist from Indore’s Tilak Nagar has alleged harassment by cops and locals in a nine-minute long video that she published on social media on July 25.
The woman animal lover resides in Tilak Nagar locality of the city. She has been fostering over 40 stray canines for the last one-and-a-half year. Narrating her ordeal in the video, she said, “For the last ten months, these people have been taking drugs right outside her house. They have made it difficult for me to step out of the house after 5 in the evening. When I reported the matter to the Tilak Nagar Police, they told me that it is happening because there is no male member in your family, you’re unmarried and there are dogs in your house.” Further, she alleged that the accused had even broken her hand around three-four months ago.
She added, “Police have been torturing and humiliating me so much. Despite that, I have been trying to settle down the situation for the past ten months, thinking that if I’ll leave from here then my 40 kids (dogs) will become homeless.”
Sakshi alleged that she and around 40 stray dogs whom she fosters are being targeted by miscreants for the past ten months. She further spoke about one dog that got snatched from outside her home and was found later beaten to death.
Sakshi alleged that her call for help to the police has fallen on deaf ears. She also accused the police of being involved in supplying drugs and running illegal slaughterhouses in the area. She alleged that she is being threatened to vacate the house. A visibly distressed Sakshi even expressed a desire to commit suicide in her video and pleaded for help.
The aggrieved animal lover concluded saying, “This message is for entire Indore that for all my actions, Tilak Nagar Police are responsible. The entire staff of the police station harasses and humiliates me and now they have crossed all limits.”
