BJP leader killed along with his father and brother in a terror attack in Kashmir

BJP leader killed : On Wednesday terrorists killed Shiekh Waseem Bari, former district president of BJP Bandipore, along with his father and brother in Bandipore.

Police said that terrorists attacked Shiekh Waseem Bari at his shop at Muslimabad, Bandipore. In this attack, Waseem Bari’s father and brother were also killed. All three were taken to the district hospital, where they were declared dead. This attack took place near the police station where Waseem Bari had a house and a shop.

After the attack, police, and the army launched a search operation in the area to track down the terrorists involved in this assassination.

Vijay Kumar, Inspector general of police Kashmir said that Bari was at his shop along with his father and brother when some terrorists fired shots at them, resulting in critical injuries to all of them. “All three later succumbed to their injuries,” said Vijay Kumar.

Vijay Kumar said “The PSOs are being arrested.”, the family had eight security personnel with them but unfortunately none of them were present during the time of the incident.

Omar Abdullah, former J&K chief minister condemned the assassination of the BJP leader along with his father and brother.

Omar Abdullah Tweeted, “Sorry to hear about the murderous terror attack on the BJP functionaries and their father in Bandipore earlier this evening. I condemn the attack. My condolences to their families in this time of grief. Sadly the violent targeting of mainstream political workers continues unabated,”.

Waseem Bari was 28 years old and was the known face of BJP in Bandipore district and had contested for the 2014 assembly election. Waseem Bari was the senior-most BJP leader killed in Kashmir since changes were made in the article 370 which gave J&K a special status previously.
