COVID-19 Anti-bodies dropping rapidly in recovered patients: Antibody levels in the blood of COVID-19 patients drop sharply within a few weeks of their body clearing the novel coronavirus, and research shows that symptoms decrease. In the absence of approved, effective treatment for COVID-19, some hospitals have treated patients with severe plasma symptoms from recovered patients.

If plasma recovery ultimately shows an obvious advantage, it should be collected in a specific time window after recovery. However, dehydrated patients may not be able to donate blood until 14 days after the symptoms subside, giving the body time to remove the virus cells. The SARS-CoV-2 spike protein plays an important role in capturing the virus and attacking the host cells. Antibodies produced by the immune system bind to a portion of this protein and inhibit its ability to attach to the host cell, preventing the virus from infecting the cell. Previous studies have suggested that antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 spike protein may fight symptoms 2 or 3 weeks after the peak.

The researchers observed differences in the level of individual patients but found a complete and consistent sign. Levels of immunoglobulins G, A, and M indicate a reduced. The binding area between six and ten weeks after the onset of symptoms.

At the same time, the ability of the antibody to reduce the virus is similar, the researchers said. Understanding how antibody levels change over time is important not only to increase plasma recovery rates but also to understand the effectiveness of the vaccine and whether previously infected individuals are at risk of re-infection.
