Ganpati Visarjan

On the day of Visarjan, the entire family must gather to chant the holy mantras and perform a few rituals. It includes the offering of the DhoopDeepPushpaGandha and Naivedya. Offer Bappa’s favourite Modaks and Laddos.

Then perform aarti before Bappa begins his return journey. Thank Bappa for visiting your home and also seek forgiveness for any mistake that you may have committed.

Then slightly and gently move Bappa, to mark the beginning of his returning journey. Distribute Prasad to everyone at home. The family members must then put Akshat on Lord Ganesha and urge him to return as soon as possible.

Then one must offer curd and sugar to Bappa for his blissful journey. Some coconut, sugar or jaggery and some food grains must be tied to a red cloth and handed over to Bappa so that it comes in handy as he returns to his heavenly abode.

The family members must then do the pradakshina of Bappa and take his blessings. Then, the elder member of the family, who would carry the idol must gently lift Bappa with his face facing the house, and take him around for one final tour of the home before the Visarjan.

Amid loud chants of Ganpati Bappa Morya Pudhcha Varshi Laukar Yaa, as Bappa steps out, one of the family members must break coconut as a gesture of auspiciousness.

After reaching the Visarjan spot, one must perform the aarti once again, and then gently immerse him in the water.

One member of the family must remain at home and keep the doors of the house open until the Visarjan is over.

Visarjan Vidhi can be performed inside the house in a bucket or a tub or authorized places.
