Mahashivratri 2021 – Full Details about the Day: Tomorrow is Mahashivratri or the day of “Lord Shivji”. Shivratri is a day celebrated in India where all devotees worship the god Shivji. However, Shivratri is one of the most important festivals in India. On this day devotees take bathe in Ganga, go to Shivaji temple with milk, fruits, and other offerings for God. However, according to the Hindu calendar Mahashivratri comes on “Chaturdashi Krishna Paksha”.On this day devotees tend to keep a strict fast for shivaji.

Nishita Kaal (night) Puja Time 
is from 12:06 AM to 12:55 AM on March 12
Shivaratri Parana Time is from 6:34 AM to 3:02 PM on March 12
First prahar puja time is from 6:27 PM to 9:29 PM on March 12
Second prahar puja time is from 9:29 PM to 12:31 AM on March 12
Third prahar puja time is from 12:31 AM to 03:32 AM on March 12
Fourth prahar puja time is from 3:32 AM to 06:34 AM on March 12
Chaturdashi Tithi or time begins at 2:39 PM on March 11 and ends at 3:02 PM on March 12.

Rituals are the most important part of Indian festivals,every festival has its own ritual. However during Mahshivratri people tend to keep fast for Shivaji and worship him. On this day devotees buy milk to pour on shivling and buy fruits and flowers to worhip him.Hence one of the interesting part of Mahashivratri is many temples make Bhaang for the devotees, bhaang is made up of milk and other ingrediants. Now knowing about the details on how to worship god shivaji is that devotees should fast for the day, not necessay but it has been seen alot on this day. Various items like bilipatra, flowers and milk is used to worship god.

Below is the list of things not to perform on this day:

  • Consumption of wheat, rice and pulses in any form is strictly prohibited. …
  • Do not consume meat, onion and garlic.
  • Consumption of tobacco or alcohol should be prohebited.
  • Do not offer coconut water to Shiva Linga.
  • Do not offer vermillion (sindoor/kumkum) to the Shiva Linga.
  • Avoid offering Ketaki flowers.
