New Height of Mt. Everest

New Height of Mt. Everest: A year after China and Nepal met to decide to re-measure the world’s highest mountain, the two countries are expected to announce their most recent official elevation. Mount Everest, or the highest mountain in the world, is located in the Himalayas between China and Nepal – the crossroads between them.
The official elevation is currently 8,848 m, the second highest mountain in the world, 200 m shorter from K2, which is 8,611 m situated in Pakistan occupied kashmir( POK ) . The mountain is named after Sir George Everest, a colonial geographer who served as the Surveyor General of India in the mid-19th century. Everest, considered the highest point, was measured in 1953 by the Indo-Nepalese Tenzing Norgay and New Zealand Edmund Hillary. The official height of Mount Everest has been widely accepted since 1956, measured by the Survey of India.
However, the height of the conference was reported to be changing due to tectonic activities such as the 2015 Nepal earthquake. For decades its predictions also depended on who tested it. Another issue is whether the elevation is based on the elevation of the rock or the elevation above the ice. Over the years, Nepal and China have been at loggerheads over the issue, which was resolved in 2010 when Nepal accepted 8,848 m of snow, while China has been able to reach 8,844.43 m. Then in 2019, when Chinese President Xi Jinping visited Nepal, the two countries agreed to re-measure the length of Everest and announce their results.
The reason for making this joint effort is that the previous dimensions of the mountain were Indian, American or European explorers, and the joint effort represents the pride of Nepal and China, who now come forward with their own numbers. The two groups represent different points in the sea – China uses the Yellow Sea and Nepal using a point near the Bay of Bengal. Nepal has completed its figures and is waiting for China to complete some part of the project, the report said. The joint declaration date has been postponed due to infection.
The Government of Nepal does not have a record or exact version of that study, unlike the Surveyor General of the Indian Office during the British Raj. The study is called the Great Trigonometry Survey of India based on trigonometry calculations. The new survey which does not include India can clearly show the shift of Nepalese Interest towards China.
