Significance Of Bhai Dooj, Date 2020

Bhai Dooj is celebrated after 2 days of Diwali. This year Bhai Dooj will be celebrated on 16th November 2020. Indian Government Calendar

Bhai Dooj, Bhau Beej, or Bhai Tika. The Hindu festival Bhai Dooj is known by different names in different places of India.

आचार्य एसएस नागपाल ने बताया कि भाईदूज का पर्व कार्तिक मास में शुक्ल पक्ष की द्वितीया तिथि को मनाया जाता है। भाई दूज का टीका शुभ मुर्हूत दिन 12:56 से 03:06 तक है। 

Like Raksha Bandhan, Bhai Dooj is an Indian festival. It’s a festival of bond, love, affection between brother and sister.

According to Indian history, it is said that, Lord Krishna after slaying an evil demon Narakasura. Lord Krishna visited his sister Subhadra. She warmly welcomed Krishna with sweets and applied a tika on his forehead.

There was great bonding between Krishna and Subhadra. It is also said that Krishna was very close to Subhadra.

After that it was believed that everyone started celebrating Bhai Dooj.

This festival is celebrated in India and some parts of Nepal.

Sisters applies red tika on brothers forehead and performs arti.

On the day of the festival, sisters invite their brothers for a sumptuous meal often including their favourite dishes/sweets.

The whole ceremony signifies the duty of a brother to protect his sister, as well as a sister’s blessings for her brother.

It is also said that the girls who don’t have a brother or a brother who is staying at a faraway place can worship moon god. Girls perform arti for the moon and send prayers to the brothers through the moon god.
