The Paris Climate Agreement

The Paris Climate Agreement: The United States officially withdrew from the Paris Agreement three years after President Donald Trump announced his intention.

So in June 2017, a few months after the launch, Trump announced his government’s decision to rescind the deal. Environmentalists have strongly criticized this. The main objective of the Paris Agreement is to strengthen the global response to the threat of climate change. Also to reduce global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius by keeping temperatures below 2 degrees Celsius below pre-industrial levels. All parties to the Paris Agreement seek to continue their positive efforts through “National Donations” (NDCs) and to strengthen these efforts in the years to come. Although poor countries and island regions are seeking a lower target in response to the threat of drought and rising sea levels, meteorologists say keeping a 2-degree rise will be a challenge. It also called on developing countries to provide funding to help developing countries cope with climate change and adaptation policies.

An important element of the Paris Agreement is that it reflects the principle of ‘General but Special Obligations’ (CBDR). Developing countries insisted that developed countries bear the burden of climate change as they were responsible for releasing almost all greenhouse gases from 1850 to 1980. The agreement also covers how to deal with the economic risks faced by less developed countries due to climate change. Change like drought, floods. Developed countries do not face economic disputes because we do not include or provide evidence for any debt or compensation.

According to Article 28 of the Paris Agreement, a country may not give the notice to withdraw from the Agreement within three years from the first date in the country concerned. Until the withdrawal begins, the countries are required to continue reporting their withdrawals to the United Nations, as required by the agreement.
