Trai blocks Airtel Vodafone & Idea: Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TROI) claims that Premiere’s plans for Barti Airtel Ltd and Vodafone Idea Ltd provide faster data speeds and preferred services for high-paying consumers, as those systems violate the rules and affect the quality of services. Vodafone’s Idea has not responded until now.

An Trai official said: “It (the plans) is in violation of quality of service norms. It shortchanges the existing customers and it is also not clear what the new customers are being offered as the parameters are not quantifiable,”.

Bharti Airtel Limited on July 6 announced the fastest 4G data speed for its Platinum customers – customers paying 9,499 or more. Telecom Major, led by Sunil Mittal, said it had launched the state-of-the-art technology for its ‘Internet 4G Network’, placing platinum subscribers on the network.
Vodafone Idea has launched its RedX customer service program at a cost of 999, offering 50% faster speeds and specialized services. The price of the program increased to 100 in May.

Bharti Airtel chief executive officer (CEO) Gopal Vittal said:  “We want to keep raising the bar for our postpaid customers in terms of service and responsiveness. This is an ongoing effort at our end. The good news is that for all of you who are a part of Airtel Platinum, we have launched several new features to ensure an uninterrupted work from home experience. You now have access to Preferential 4G Network, which translates into higher data speeds,”.

According to experts, these two offers could be seen as efforts to increase the base of high-paying customers to increase per capita income (ARPU).
