TV Actor Pearl V Puri Rape Case: On Saturday (June 5), the television industry got to know a piece of shocking news. The Naagin actor Pearl V Puri‘s arrest for allegedly raping a minor. Pearl V puri was under arrest by the Vasai police for allegedly sexually assaulting a five-year-old girl in 2019. Moreover, the actor was under custody in Mumbai’s Vasai area. In addition, a minor victim and her mother filed a complaint at the police station, following by the filing of a case under Section 376 (rape) of the IPC and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) Act, 2012.

What is the Pearl V Puri Controversy?
The alleged incident occurred in October 2019 on a film set in Vasai, where Pearl was filming. On the set were the victim and her mother, who is also a television actor. The minor’s mother got to know about the incident after the child complained of abdominal pain. Her father, who had previously worked with Puri, lodged a complaint with the Versova police station. The case got a tranfer to Waliv police, and after an investigation, it was found that Puri played a role in the incident.
The victim’s family had complained to the Valiv Police Station, which lodged the case. The complaint states that Pearl allegedly molested and raped the five-year-old girl. This took place around two years ago when he came to the location for the shooting. The identity of the accused was unknown when the investigation began, according to Sanjay Patil, deputy commissioner of police (DCP), zone 2 Mira-Bhayandar, Vasai-Virar Police Commissionerate. “The victim identified the accused recently, and after recording her statement, the accused is under arrest. After the identification of the accused, we have taken him into custody for further investigation,” said Patil.

Sections 376 AB (punishment for rape of woman under 12 years of age) of the Indian Penal Code, and Sections 4 (punishment for penetrative sexual assault), 8 (punishment for sexual assault), 12 (punishment for sexual harassment), 19 (reporting of offenses) and 21 (punishment for failure to report or record a case) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, are all charged on Puri.
Who is Pearl V Puri?
Pearl V Puri (born 10 July 1989) is an Indian model and television actor. He is best known for his role as Abeer in Phir Bhi Na Maane… Badtameez Dil, Mahir in Naagin 3, and Raghbir in Bepanah Pyaar. The 31-year-old actor made his television debut in 2013 with the show ‘Dil Ki Nazar Se Khoobsurat. Moreover, Pearl’s career reached a turning point in 2018, when he landed his biggest and most well-received break with the third season of Ekta Kapoor’s popular television show Naagin. Also, he was most recently seen in the television series ‘Brahmarakshas 2.’

Ekta Kapoor supports Pearl- Says she has proofs
Ekta Kapoor expressed her support for the actor, claiming she has voice notes from the victim’s mother proving Pearl V. Puri’s rape charges are false. Check out the statements given by Ekta Kapoor below:
Divya Khosla Kumar who is an Indian actress, producer, and director also came in support of the actor and posted a few images on her Instagram account.
Krystle D’souza shared a picture with Puri and wrote, “I know @pearlvpuri and he is one of the nicest boys I’ve met in our TV industry. A thorough gentleman. Please don’t jump to conclusions on baseless allegations. Let’s wait for the truth to come out.”

Actress Nia Sharma also posted on Instagram stating, ” Rape is not a joke, no excuse, no means to come at someone to satisfy a bruised ego. Rape and molestation stories are terrifying and far beyond imagination in India. The real victims die, their stories go unheard, their families are waiting for justice all their lives. Do not belittle them. Do not make a mockery of it. Rape allegations cannot fu**ing be used at will. It Cannot. It should not”.

Vasai DCP says “There is evidence against Pearl”
Furthermore, on Sunday, June 6, Mumbai Police DCP said in a press statement that Pearl’s accusations are not false. Vasai DCP Sanjay Kumar Patil was asked about Ekta’s statement via her Instagram post in which she defended Pearl in a video. In response, DCP is heard saying, “No, the accusations are not false. His name has come up in the investigation. There is evidence against him. That is why the police have arrested him. The truth will be decided in the trial.”
Furthermore, the Mumbai Police arrested television actor Pearl Puri on Friday for allegedly raping a 5-year-old girl. Moreover, on Saturday, Aditi Kadam, Vasai Sessions Judge, remanded him in judicial custody for 14 days. The actor is likely to apply for bail during his court hearing on Monday (June 7). Pearl V Puri is yet to comment on these allegations.
