UGC decides against scrapping exams for final year students!

  • UGC to conduct final semester exams by September-end: 2020
  • The student union has condemned the move by UGC.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued certain Guidelines on Examinations and Academic Calendar for the Universities. Considering COVID-19 Pandemic and Subsequent Lockdown on 29th April 2020.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) will not recommend the cancellation of the final semester (final-year) examination. The higher education regulator decided in a meeting held on Monday.

UGC has permitted the universities to conduct exams in online/offline mode, whichever is convenient.

All India Students Association has condemned the move by the UGC and has also appealed to the students of the university, to stand together in this fight in this pandemic because nothing is more important than human health.

However, the University Grants Commission, keeping in mind the pandemic situation has also arranged provisions for examinations in special cases to give more support to the student’s community.

Students having any issue can opt for Special case examinations.

which may be conducted by the university as and when feasible. So that the student does not face any inconvenience/ disadvantage. The above provision shall be applicable only for the current academic session 2019-20 as a one-time measure.

The revised guidelines are likely to have an impact on examination schedules across the country.
