UPSC to Conduct Personality Tests For Civil Services 2019 From July 20

  • The UPSC has declared that it would resume the personality tests of the remaining candidates for the Civil Services Examination 2019 (CSE-2019) from July 20 to July 30.
  • The tests will be conducted from 20-30 July.

With the gradual uplifting of the lockdown, The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has declared that it would resume the Personality Tests (PT) of the remaining candidates for the Civil Services Examination 2019 (CSE-2019) from July 20, 2020, to July 30, 2020.

The process of 2,304 aspirants giving their PT to the Commission was ongoing when Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the nationwide lockdown to curb the further spread of COVID-19.

But now, with the gradual lifting of the imposed restrictions, the interviews are being resumed with prior information given to the aspirants. Also, as per the official statement, the precautionary measures required to curb the transmission of the novel coronavirus have been put in place.

As train services are not fully functional, the Commission, as a one-time measure, has decided to reimburse the lowest ‘to and fro airfare’ to the candidates coming for the PTs. Therefore, the Commission has announced the first of its kind measure by deciding to reimburse the lowest ‘to and fro airfare’ to the candidates who would travel to attend the Personality Tests.

On reaching the Commission, all candidates will be provided a ‘Sealed Kit’ consisting of a face mask, face shield, a bottle of sanitizer and hand gloves. Since the Interview Boards generally comprise of senior advisers, the Commission has taken all precautionary and safety measures for contactless PTs in order to shield the interviewers and the interviewees appropriately.

The Commission’s staff involved in conduct of the PTs will also be equipped with suitable protective gear. Arrangements have been made for regular sanitization of all the rooms, halls, furniture and equipment.

The Candidate seating arrangements at all venues will ensure safe social distancing. Protocol/guidelines to be followed by the candidates for appearing in the interview have been communicated to them.

“The Commission is committed to ensure the highest standards of health safety even as it fulfills its Constitutional mandate for selecting the most suitable candidates through its examinations,” UPSC stated in an announcement on Monday.
